Day 1 Summary

Greetings from Jordan.
We have been non-stop since we landed.
This is us w/our friends Andy and Beth laying over at JFK

Day 1 started at a session where we met our Jordanian friends

One of our speakers was Mrs. Basma Lozi - special advisor to the Prime Minister of Jordan. Amy really enjoyed talking with her. She would later host us for dinner at an amazing home.

We visited the King Hussein Bin Talal Mosque where we heard a talk from Jordan Senator Akel Baltaji. He talked about the history of Islam and the Mid East region. He expressed optimism about Obama's recent comments during his visit to the Middle East.

Hey girls! How do you like wearing those robes to church?

Next we saw a gladiator show re-enactment in an ancient Roman city of Jaresh. The city was being excavated and restored. I'm not sure about the Arab Bagpipe players...

Amy prepares for opening night at the 3,000 seat amphitheatre

We finished the day at an amazing private home overlooking downtown Amman. The food was very regional and authentic. We all loved it. What a great way to finish our 1st day in Jordan!
