Day 2 Summary

Day 2 started with a trip to Mt. Nebo.
This is where Moses was told to go to see the Promised Land.
Deuteronomy 32:49:
49 “Go to Moab, to the mountains east of the river,[a] and climb Mount Nebo, which is across from Jericho. Look out across the land of Canaan, the land I am giving to the people of Israel as their own special possession.

Amy and Beth got a little excited about going to the Dead Sea (which you can almost see behind them (it was a bit hazy).

We next traveled to Petra. This is one of the new wonders of the world.

Our group poses for a picture in front of the treasury.

Amy rides a camel!

One of the interesting details on the Petra carvings was the stairway. This was on the front of the many tombs. It signified that the person inside was climbing to heaven via the stairs.

We enjoyed seeing the city life as we rode around in our bus. Here two women are completely covered as they walk in public. Behind them is a store that sells women's underwear. (Notice the covered windows).

Next was a 4 hour trip to the Dead Sea. Along the way, we stopped at a spring
reported created when Moses struck the rock with his staff. This act of disobedience prevented him from entering the Promised Land. A family was using the spring to get their water.
